Christian
Education
At St. Mark's we are involved in many activities in the Church and the world. Our members volunteer their time to Diocesan work, to ecumenical efforts for social justice with St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Chapel next door (with whom we are in Covenant), to the Covenant Soup Kitchen at St. Paul's in Willimantic, to charitable work of the Windham Area Interfaith Ministry (WAIM), to Habitat for Humanity. Residents at Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehab eagerly anticipate the last Sunday of the month worship service led by a team from St. Mark's which includes Grace, a Great Dane trained as a therapy dog.
Over the years, the Christian education program for
children, teens and adults has grown and developed to include a
monthly Adult Bible Study, Sunday Adult Forums, and classes for
children aged 3 through High School. The younger classes
use the Episcopal Children’s Curriculum, while the youth
ministry program is following the J2A (Journey to Adulthood) curriculum.
Opportunities are also developing for young adults through the
Twenties 'n Thirties (TNT) ministry. The entire Parish enjoys
and participates in Sunday School happenings.
Each June, a team of volunteers ventures forth to assist elderly and flood
displaced people in West Virginia. Through our Last Sunday Offerings and other
programs we share our time talent and treasure with ministries throughout the
world.
